A little about me

Graphic design has been a significant aspect of my life for the past 10 years, and art in general has always been a part of me. Growing up I would paint or draw every day and I intended to continue this path at the University of the Fraser Valley where I spent 3 years studying Fine Arts. However, as I became more drawn to graphic design and marketing, I decided to transfer to Emily Carr where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communication Design in 2017.

In addition to my creative pursuits, staying active is another key focus of mine. Since moving to Vancouver in 2014 from my hometown of Chilliwack, I’ve made a consistent effort to take full advantage of the city’s natural amenities.

Values

I approach design with a strong focus on both the big picture and the small details. I value strategic thinking and care deeply about creating designs that meet the needs of others. To me, design isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about solving problems and building meaningful connections. I’m committed to delivering high-quality work that’s thoughtful and purposeful, and I always put in the extra effort to ensure the final result truly resonates with its audience.

Process

My background as an artist has a big influence on how I approach design. I start with in-depth research to fully understand the industry, the audience, and the specific goals of the project. From there, I explore various concepts and ideas, letting my artistic side bring in lots of details and possibilities. Then, I refine and simplify, ensuring that the final design is clear, intentional, and functional. I believe in the importance of distilling complex ideas into something essential, something that is both creative and purposeful.

Style

My design style blends vintage influences with modern sensibilities, often with bold, well-balanced color palettes. Color is one of my greatest passions, and I love how it can evoke emotion and bring a design to life. I also tend to approach design as a storyteller. Every project is an opportunity to create a narrative, whether it’s through visual elements, typography, or the overall tone of the design. I aim to make each piece engaging and accessible, reflecting the personality and values of the brand or message it represents.

Why

What excites me most about design is its ability to make a real impact. Whether it’s helping a new business establish a strong identity or refreshing an established brand, design has the power to communicate, build trust, and spark change. I love how design can shape environments, evoke emotion, and solve problems in creative ways. It’s not just about making things look good, it’s about creating something that people connect with, that evolves over time, and that makes a difference in how others experience the world.
